Brendan Dolan was one of the notable absentees at this week's two Players Championship tournaments in Hildesheim, Germany, marking the end of an extraordinary streak.

Dolan, known as 'The History Maker,' made history in 2011 when he became the first player ever to hit a nine-darter in the double-in, double-out format at a televised tournament during the World Grand Prix.

It was also around this time that Dolan began a remarkable new feat. October 2011 marked the last time he missed a Players Championship event, and he had a good excuse – the tournament was held in Canada. Since then, Dolan has participated in every Players Championship event, a streak that lasted for fourteen years.

Over this period, Dolan competed in an incredible 319 consecutive Players Championship tournaments, a record no other player has come close to matching. The closest competitor is Ricky Evans, who began his own streak in 2012.

This relentless participation in the Players Championship events has certainly brought Dolan plenty of success. He has won a total of nine Players Championship titles and reached six finals, although he was runner-up on those occasions. His most recent title came at a tournament in May 2024 in Hildesheim, the very venue where he is now absent. Additionally, 'The History Maker' has thrown two nine-darters in floor events.
