World number one Luke Humphries has expressed his support for 14-year-old Alex McGarrie, a young fan who has been bullied for two years. Humphries wants to make sure Alex has an unforgettable experience and plans to approach the PDC to arrange VIP tickets and a meet-and-greet with the players in Manchester.
Alex, from Stockport, is an avid darts fan and has faced a lot of bullying at school, Hazel Grove High School. According to his parents, he is targeted by bullies because of his autism.
When Humphries heard about Alex's situation, he decided to make a heartwarming gesture via X (formerly Twitter). “I will speak to the PDC this week when in Cardiff and see if we can get him some tickets and a chance to meet all the players in Manchester if that suits? No one likes a bully, hope he’s ok and send him my best wishes.”
Humphries, nicknamed "Cool Hand," returns to action in the Premier League in Cardiff on Thursday, where he will take on Michael van Gerwen. The darter from Cheshire is currently second in the Premier League, just one point behind leader Luke Littler.
Humphries, Littler and Gerwyn Price have each won two Premier League nights already this season. In addition, Humphries already has a major title to his name this year at the Winmau World Masters.
