Vincent van der Voort may be entering his final year on the Pro Tour. The 48-year-old Dutchman has been in doubt about his future for some time.
Van der Voort had a lacklustre year last year, partly plagued by personal problems, and has since dropped to 54th in the world rankings. Early this year, he indicated that he would give it another year and make a decision about his future in early December.
Last Thursday, Van der Voort was a guest analyst on Viaplay and was asked how things are going now. "In itself it went pretty ok during the first Pro Tours, but now a small foot injury is throwing a spanner in the works again. That really sucks," Van der Voort said.
"Last week I had to quit during the qualifying tournament for the European Tour," he continued. "I'm going to get it checked in the hospital now. It's especially annoying because it's also the foot I stand on when throwing."
"When the pain comes on, I'm usually fine the first day, but in the evening I feel like there's my own heartbeat in my foot. The days after that it then only gets worse. So this has to be solved," Van der Voort concludes.
