Beau Greaves thrashed Robyn Byrne in the final of Event 12 of PDC
Women's Series action after failing to get past the Last 16 in the first three events of the weekend. But she has opened up about recent struggles that have seen her snub playing opportunities.
Greaves is imperious at the top of the Women's Series and aside from Darius Labanauskas now taking top spot on the Challenge Tour due to her not playing, 'Beau N Arrow' has also dominated the other secondary tours.
But also her absence has been noted on the ProTour even this week which takes place in the same venue as the Women's Series in Rosmalen. There is a reason behind that though as she explains that dartitis has been an issue in the past week as her travails with her throw led her to withdraw due to anxiety.
“Everything felt so hard and tiring. Nothing was going in but obviously over the moon to come out with the title," Greaves openly admitted post final.
“I was really suffering, and I was just ready to throw my darts in the river to be fair.
“It’s not how I want to win them. I have been so inconsistent. Yesterday summed it up I averaged 90 and then 70 later in the day. It’s not good darts for me and I’m probably just lacking a bit of confidence. I’m getting over it and trying to get through it.”
She went into the issues and said that it happened on the Development Tour. As a result the Doncaster ace decided a week at home was best but she freely admitted that it made everything worse if anything.
“I played the Development Tour played well and won a tournament. Then I woke up on the Saturday morning and something just felt wrong.
“I decided I am not going to play the ProTour. I felt like I wasn’t ready to play and felt a lot of anxiety. I was dreading it.
“I had a week at home but if anything, it made me worse. The inconsistency is frustrating me. I’ve been struggling recently.
“With my dartitis it’s tough and sometimes that gets the better of me. I have been to the doctors about it before and it has helped but it also hasn’t. But to win one Women’s Series title this weekend gives me some confidence heading into whatever I play next.”
