Phil Taylor retired from professional darts with the PDC at the start of 2018. Among his many accolades are six Premier League Darts titles. Though no longer active as a player, The Power still follows the tournament closely - and he’s been thoroughly impressed with the standard of play this year.
Last Thursday, the AO Arena in Manchester hosted Night 10 of the 2025 Premier League Darts. Nathan Aspinall emerged victorious, defeating Luke Humphries 6–4 in the final. It marked Aspinall’s first nightly win of this year’s campaign. Another highlight of the night saw Gerwyn Price hit the 4th nine-darter of the 2025 Premier League Darts in a losing effort against Luke Littler.
"What a Thursday last Thursday was! Nathan Aspinall, Gerwyn Price... It can't get any better than this," reflects the legendary Taylor for BetGoodwin on social media. "It's unbelievable. This is probably one of the best Premier Leagues I've seen. And Nathan Aspinall, I haven't got a hat on, otherwise, I'd take it off. What a man! To come through, and after the weekend before as well I thought he might have been a little bit shattered, but he wasn't. He fought and he fought and he fought."
Despite a very documented ongoing battle with dartitis, Aspinall is playing some of the best darts of his career recently, winning on the Euro Tour for the first time, taking that aforementioned nightly Premier League Darts win in Manchester, and most recently reaching the final of Players Championship 13 on the Pro Tour. "I can't fault the lad," Taylor says warmly. "His ability to win is second to none. He's probably one of the best winners I've ever seen. But, with the Premier League, who knows what is going to happen this week."
The action continues this Thursday with Night 11 in Rotterdam’s Ahoy Arena. Local favorite Michael van Gerwen will take on Stephen Bunting in the quarterfinals.
