It was announced earlier this week that the German Darts Championship will take place in Hildesheim between September 25-27 at Halle 39 with events in Budapest, Jena, Gibraltar and Prague all cancelled.
The big news coming from the field which has been subsequently released is that those who had initially secured their spots in the second European Tour event of the year. This was the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen which wasn't held so they will receive spots for the
German Darts Championship in Hildesheim instead.
In terms of the field,
Daryl Gurney will be there to defend his German Darts Championship. As will World Number One
Michael van Gerwen and World Champion
Peter Wright in terms of the seeded players with 16 in all.
Steve West, Mervyn King, Danny Noppert, Steve Lennon, Ron Meulenkamp and Darren Penhall all enjoyed qualification doubles to start the year and so will be there.
Michael Smith, Devon Petersen and Jeff Smith are also among the 24 qualifiers from that initial qualifier. Gabriel Clemens and Max Hopp qualify as the top two players from the home nation. Daniel Larsson and Boris Koltsov are also involved as PDC Nordic and Baltic and Eastern European Qualifiers respectively.
