The fifth Promi Darts World Championship will take place on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, in Düsseldorf. Here, six PDC top players will be paired with a German celebrity and pairs matches will be played.
Due to the corona pandemic, this event could not take place the past two years. In 2020, Michael van Gerwen managed to win the tournament together with handball player Pascal Hens.
This year, the Dutchman is once again playing with an ex-top athlete. Van Gerwen will form a pair with former soccer player Kevin Großkreutz, who played for Borussia Dortmund from 2009 to 2015.
The brand new world champion Michael Smith will play with presenter Matthias Killing. Peter Wright is assigned with presenter Amira Pocher, while entertainer Oliver Pocher is teamed with Fallon Sherrock. Musician Henning Wehland is paired with Gabriel Clemens. Bülent Ceylan, an entertainer in everyday life, is playing with Gerwyn Price.
During the Promi Darts World Championship, the teams are first divided into two groups of three teams. The top two teams advance to the semifinals, after which the final takes place.
