On a new year of
European Tour action, some things change and some just stay the same and in the case of
Luke Humphries and
Dave Chisnall, it is the latter as they face off in the final of the
Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel shortly.
Humphries won four tournaments last year and came into this year's European Tour as top seed and having to defend the money won last year as a result but he has taken to the task superbly.
Albeit not without some darting drama during his semi-final clash with Ryan Searle sealing it 7-6. He survived two match darts from 'Heavy Metal' including at a 164 on the bull before sealing a narrow win with five 180's along the way.
While the same drama could be said between Chisnall and Jonny Clayton with the St Helens ace who won the penultimate European Tour of last season aiming to add another title sealing a win over 'The Ferret' 7-5.
Albeit coming from 5-2 down to do so winning five straight legs to book his spot in the final. Initially Clayton was doing all the damage with Chisnall only damaging his darts and flights with bounceouts as Clayton hit a 122 en route to four straight legs at 4-2.
But the comeback began as Chisnall hit an 86 checkout to make it three legs without reply at 5-5 and also hit a clinical 100 checkout using two double 20's to make it 6-5 before finishing it with a superb 88 on the bull.
