This was already Krohne’s fourth start on the European Tour and, after 2025, his second outing at the Sindelfingen Glaspalast. Last year, he had to accept a clear 0-6 defeat there against Ross Smith. He assessed his performance accordingly: “Better than last year. I think I played better last year – but today, unfortunately, too many darts at the double went begging.”
Respect for “Goldfinger” Gilding
With Andrew Gilding, Krohne faced one of the most idiosyncratic and experienced players on tour. For the German, it was the first direct meeting with “Goldfinger.” “I think he’s very relaxed to play against,” said Krohne. “He just plays his game, no matter what the opponent does, and I simply didn’t offer enough, I think.”
Still waiting for his first success at the European Darts Grand Prix: Paul Krohne
At the same time, his participation at the European Darts Grand Prix once again underlines the German’s strong form this year. In 2026, Krohne has already won the Dutch Open Darts – the largest darts tournament in the world – and also secured two titles on the PDC Europe NEXT GEN.
Despite this sporting progress, Krohne remains deliberately down-to-earth when planning his future. Back in 2024, he had earned a PDC Tour Card, which he voluntarily returned after one year to focus on his vocational training. That priority has not changed so far. “First finish my training, then we’ll see what comes next,” he explained.
However, the next big task is already around the corner in the coming days: At the Modus Super Series, Krohne will compete in International Pairs Week together with Daniel Klose for Team Germany. He deliberately keeps expectations in check. “I think we’re both up for it and we’ll just see what happens.”
