Craig Galliano will play once more in the 2022
World Cup of Darts with Justin Hewitt with Gibraltar once again seeing the two young rising stars representing them.
Galliano spoke to Tungsten Tales ahead of the tournament beginning on Thursday about the fierce competition for the spots with the likes of Dyson Parody and Sean Negrette also in the periphery.
"At the start of the year, everyone in Gibraltar that participates in all tournaments want to qualify for the World Cup. That's the main goal. Once a year, we have the chance to participate on Sky Sports and TV obviously apart from that the European Tour obviously that comes to Gibraltar. We do six local ranking points and first and second will participate in the World Cup of Darts luckily me and Justin this year although I qualified in the last event which added pressure," said Galliano at Tungsten Tales.
"We've been developing on Development Tour and local events so hopefully that preparation will benefit us."
Pro dreams and football career
It is a career path that eventually Galliano wants to go down and join the tour properly. "I've always loved darts, I've always played since I was young so hopefully one day if I carry on what I'm doing and carry on performing, hopefully one day I could get that Tour Card.
But it is a sport he has long combined with football at a high level in Gibraltar also played by the 20-year-old.
"I was playing the last year and since I was young. But recently the last few months with my work I wanted to put it a bit to the side and obviously to focus on my darts leading up to World Cup. My main focus is to play darts but I still play when I can."
