Gary Anderson recorded a hard-fought victory over Gian van Veen in the second round of the
European Darts Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon. 'The Flying Scotsman' threw an average of 110.16, but nevertheless needed a deciding leg to beat the Dutchman.
After eight legs Anderson faced a 3-5 deficit, but a 14-darter and an 11-darter brought the Scot back to 5-5. Anderson then started the last leg himself and finished the job with a 14-darter. In total, the two-time world champion scored a staggering nine 180s.
After Josh Rock and Gerwyn Price, Anderson is now the third player this season who has managed to throw a 110+ average on both the Euro Tour and Players Championship circuit.
