Gerwyn Price grows into Luke Littler's 'bogeyman' as staggering Head-to-Head continues

Few players do not have a negative record against Luke Littler and even fewer have a positive record against the teenage English sensation, especially when more than 10 matches between them have already been played.

Gerwyn Price, meanwhile, seems to be becoming the absolute fear opponent of the reigning world champion. Of the eleven matches between them, 'The Iceman' managed to win no fewer than seven. Price is already six matches in a row unbeaten against Littler.

Littler still started well in his first matches against the former rugby player. Of the first five clashes, four were won by the current world number two. Price then beat Littler 7-6 in the semifinals of the US Darts Masters, however, and that appeared to have been the tipping point in their rivalry.

They met again in the final of the Australian Darts Masters in August 2024, when Price won a whopping 8-1 over his young rival. The Welsh darter then continued his winning streak with a 6-2 victory over Littler in the quarterfinals of the Bahrain Darts Masters earlier this year.

'The Iceman' also proved too strong for the Englishman in the quarterfinals of Players Championship 2, after which Price also recorded two victories over Littler in Premier League Darts.

This included winning the night in Nottingham where it seems Littler was irked by Price and is still trying to figure out the Welshman. While Price has managed to get the crowd somewhat on his side recently including in Wieze where the fans loved him, some don't hold the same view.

This of course going back to the Gary Anderson incident at the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts and while Price has continued his on stage celebrations and persona, this doesn't seem to be one that Littler who usually has it all his own way has wrapped his head around.

With both part of the so-called darting elite, they will likely face off again a lot this season so the true barometer will come if it continues.
