On the opening night of the 2024 Premier League Darts in Cardiff, Gerwyn Price made it all the way to the final before losing out to Michael Smith, 6-2.
Something notable from Price's performances on Thursday night however, was a new walk-on song. 'The Iceman' has spent most of his career playing venues around the world with the song 'Ice Ice Baby' by Vanilla Ice. But on the opening night of the 2024 Premier League Darts, he took a different tack in his hometown of Cardiff.
The 38-year-old Welshman entered the stage at the Utilita Arena to Journey's classic "Don't Stop Believin'" and received an exuberant welcome from his compatriots in the audience. Fans watching at home soon caught on to the change. For example, most of his followers on social media were extremely positive about his choice of this song.
Incidentally, Price has changed his walk-on music before, but that was short-lived. In 2022, he switched to Katy Perry's "Roar" for two Premier League nights. Afterwards, however, he returned to "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice. Wait and see which song he takes the stage on next week, when the Premier League heads to Berlin for its second day of play.
