"I've had it for the last five years, so welcome to the club": No sympathy for Gerwyn Price amid Littler whistling issues

Gerwyn Price started his Premier League Darts campaign well seeing off Nathan Aspinall and Rob Cross, before losing out to Michael Smith in the final on home soil in Cardiff. But amid some poor form at times during the back end of 2023, it was all about consistency and starting early.

"I wanted to just get the first win and get one game against Nathan (Aspinall) and I've done that. Beat Rob (Cross), I played pretty well. Rubbish in the final, but Michael played well. I'm happy, I've got a couple of points on the board and onto next week," said Price post match.

But despite getting points on the board, Price wouldn't be drawn on his reasoning for withdrawing from this weekend's Masters which has been mooted as 'family reasons'. "Onto next week, I'm ready for the Premier League, I'm going to Germany next week. Roll into the ProTours so get this one behind me and onto Germany next week."

Quizzed about the Luke Littler whistling situation which saw every player against him subjected to whistling every throw, he had no sympathy amid his own issues with the crowd since the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts. "Everyone's going to get that every week now. I've had it for the last five years, so welcome to the club.

"Chuck everyone out, go back to COVID, that's the only way you're going to solve it. You're not going to be able to do anything. Everyone's going to do what they are going to do, you can't stop it."
