Gerwyn Price is through to the final of the
World Grand Prix and will aim to become two-time champion tomorrow after seeing off World Number One,
Michael Smith.
Price produced a 4-2 win to see off Smith who was averaging around 110 at one point and cruising at 2-1, but fell to pieces as 'The Iceman' sealed three sets in a row. He faces Luke Humphries or Joe Cullen in the final.
Price hit back-to-back 180โs in leg one and hit double 20 to break. Smith broke back with a 64 checkout. Price though broke again.
Price missed set darts in a horror show and Smith hit a 95 checkout on double 13 to go one away from the opening set.
Smith slipped inside single six for 140 and Price missed the big number again to continue the horror show but Smith missed double two for the set and โThe icemanโ hit double 20 for the set.
Price led set two on double 14. He missed 96 for 2-1 but Smith couldnโt hit 110 and โThe Icemanโ went one away from a two set lead. Smith hit double two and made it 2-2.
Smith missed 81 for the set. Price though missed 97 and Smith hit double eight for the set. An 86 checkout saw Smith lead. His procession continued as he went 2-1 up in sets.
Price missed 160 for 2-0 but returned to head towards a sweep which he claimed for 2-2. Both missed darts to begin set five but it was Smith who held. Price hit 96 to make it 1-1.
Price nicked the next leg to break and go one away from a 3-2 lead which he sealed on double 12. He went 2-0 up but missed multiple match darts only to return for double two finally.
