Gerwyn Price withdraws from 2024 Masters on eve of Premier League Darts, replaced by Daryl Gurney

Despite playing in Thursday's nights Premier League Darts, Gerwyn Price will not make the trip to Milton Keynes to play in the 2024 Masters which begins on Friday night at the Marshall Arena and has been replaced by Daryl Gurney.

Price had been due to play in the tournament between February 2-4, but has withdrawn due to family reasons. With rule 3.7 in the PDC Handbook saying that Price is replaced directly in the draw by the next-ranked available player from the PDC Order of Merit not qualified, that was initially Jose de Sousa.

De Sousa though was unable to enter the event though at short notice and so Daryl Gurney replaces Price accordingly and he could face his compatriot Josh Rock in the second round stage on Saturday afternoon who is part of the first round line-up and will face Joe Cullen.

Price will open up the Premier League Darts campaign in Cardiff on home soil on Thursday night when he faces Nathan Aspinall and he will hope for a repeat performance after taking down 'The Asp' last year who has since seen his form dwindle since winning the World Matchplay. But in terms of the first major of the season, it will not include 'The Iceman'.
