Gerwyn Price begins the 2024
Premier League Darts on home turf. Opening night this year takes place in Cardiff, and he will take on Nathan Aspinall.
Price lost last year's final against Michael van Gerwen. "I'm looking forward to it! Not very often we're in Cardiff so just relishing being back here and hopefully, I'll get a good few points on the board early," Price said in conversation with the PDC from the Principality Stadium.
Being in Cardiff of course means Price will be the heavy crowd favourite, something which isn't always the case. "I know I'm going to get some fantastic support tomorrow and I don't want to go out early," he says. "I just want to give the crowd a little bit back and hopefully be there right to the end."
In Nathan Aspinall, Price also takes on a familiar foe. "I know how well Nathan can play but I've just to concentrate on my own game. If I hit my doubles, which I haven't done the last couple of weeks I'll be fine," he smiles.
Although in the past, Price hasn't always had the best relationship with the Premier League, last year he starred before losing out in the final to Michael van Gerwen. "It hasn't been good to me the last few years. Missed out on the playoffs two or three times finishing fifth," Price laments. "So it was good to get to the playoffs but ultimately I fell short in the final against Michael. Hopefully I can turn the tables and pick up that trophy."
