Ricky Evans and the PDC World Darts Championship and pre Christmas is a match made in darting heaven and he proved that again on Monday night as in the last session before Christmas, he provided the goods.

Evans spoke afterwards about the 139 from Chisnall that he miscounted joking that he would buy him a calculator for Christmas as well as the myriad of top names falling.

A chance now awaits with Robert Owen in the next round and for Evans, he is looking forward to enjoying Christmas knowing he is returning.

"It was just relief in a way. From the last round it was a completely different Ricky Evans. i wasn't sulking, moaning, I was quite concentrated this time. It's amazing what happens when you concentrate. I need to do this everytime instead of being an idiot thinking about what you could have done," said Evans.

"Personally that's got to be better than both (Whitlock and Aspinall). How good is Chizzy, I've ruined his major drought, it's carrying on again. I want to beat everyone, I don't care who is in my way. If I play proper, concentrate and do my thing I've got a chance."

"I don't understand why they're calling my name but more the merrier. Keep going, maybe it's the walk on or Christmas effect. But I love it. You're welcome to come to the Evans household and sing Feliz Navidad and watch Gavin and Stacey or whatever."

He also said that he wants to stay grounded and not get too big for his boots now he is through albeit saying that the Kettering double is still on referencing to his football team who sit top of the Southern League Division One Central and had FA Cup heroics recently falling to Doncaster after beating local rivals Northampton both on TV.

"I don't want my head to get too big now, I've got to focus on the next round. I've got to do the same thing, prepare and practice well. I've got a very good player in front of me who's played well. I've got to do the same job I did to Chizz. I hope he has the worst Christmas ever personally. It's lovely to go home knowing I'm coming back, I cannot wait."

"We're all good, I watched a few yesterday. I think a few of the seeds didn't play that well. I thought Chizzy did. I dug in, I fought a little bit. Showed a little bit of grit. The Kettering double is still on (top of the league in football)."

He discussed that miscount and said it was a bit bizarre from where he was standing but that he didn't win the leg anyway so it was irrelevant to him in the context of the contest.

"I thought he'd slipped or hit Charlie (referee). Get him a calculator for Christmas bless him. I thought at the time thank you very much but I still didn't win that leg so it's irrelevant. It was hot, it was noisy, they were cheering me on against a World Number Six so maybe it affected him."
