The first two legs in the tie were shared before Anderson hit double 10 for a 2-1 lead. Price reduced the deficit at the break to 3-2, but Anderson on returned edged ahead again. He hit an 81 checkout for 4-3 and then went 6-4 up at the next interval.
His lead then went to 8-4 with a break on double two followed by a hold, before Price tried for his last resolve. He hit back-to-back legs including a break at 6-8 down.
But the crucial moments followed as Price missed two darts at double 20 and Anderson hit 81 to go within a leg at 9-6. A leg he secured at 10-6 pinning double six last dart in hand with Price waiting to pounce.
Gary Anderson has spent the year saying that he wants to just play darts and prove people wrong and he is certainly doing that as he heads into his favourite time of the year results wise and the Quarter-Finals of his favourite tournament. What price for him to add an elusive piece of his collection? Well he is into the Quarter-Finals so that is one box firmly ticked.
