Gurney edges out Cross to set up final with Van Gerwen at Melbourne Darts Masters

Daryl Gurney is through to face Michael van Gerwen in the final of the Melbourne Darts Masters after an 8-5 win over Rob Cross.

Gurney has lost out to Cross in their past televised meetings but it was three times the charm for 'Superchin' who moved through with a 98 average and five 180's.

Both players started neck and neck until the eleventh leg. 'Voltage' missed five darts to hold and was broken by Gurney thanks to a 76 finish.

He then doubled this with a 13-darter for a 7-5 lead. Cross looked to come back into the contest but wasted six darts from 107 and Gurney finished the tie off with a third match dart to claim the win and set up a showdown with Van Gerwen who he has got the better of as of late.
