Guyana wins qualifying tournament and will make World Cup of Darts debut

At the World Cup of Darts the duo of Sudesh Fitzgerald and Norman Madhoo will represent Guyana as the nation is all set to make their debut after winning a qualifying tournament.

In recent years, the South American place at the World Cup of Darts has always been invited to Brazil. However, this year, the PDC has chosen to create a qualifying tournament for countries from Latin America with Guyana being the nation to prevail.

The Guyanese duo easily got through their first four games before in their first real challenge they overcame, with great difficulty, Jason Calderon and Guillermo Soto from Costa Rica, defeating them in a deciding leg.

As it turned out the final would be a much easier affair for Fitzgerald and Madhoo. Picking up a 10-1 win against Andres Montero and Diego Orozco, another duo from Costa Rica, the Guyanese pair secured their spot at the upcoming World Cup of Darts.

Fitzgerald and Madhoo both have some stage experience with the PDC, albeit from a long time ago. Madhoo, 59, competed in the 2004, 2010 and 2011 world championships. Fitzgerald, 36, competed in the 2009 edition.
