Haupai Puha and Ben Robb won the titles at the fifth tournament weekend of the DPNZ Pro Tour in Wellington last weekend. For Robb, it also meant that he regained first place on the DPNZ Order of Merit.
Puha, who also holds a PDC Tour Card, easily got through the group phase at DPNZ Pro Tour 9, including a whitewash victory over Tyler Jones with an average of 103.66. The 39-year-old darter then also won over Nicole, Jamie Roberts and Daniel Snookes for a spot in the semifinals. In the last four, Puha triumphed 6-4 against John Hurring before being too strong 7-2 to Tukina Weko in the final.
The tenth tournament of the DPNZ Tour was a triumph for Robb. 'Big Rig' took the win in all his four group matches and easily qualified for the knockout phase.
This was followed by victories over Jaymie Hilton-Jones (5-2) and Craig Caldwell (6-4) for a final place. In the final, Rob led 3-0 and 5-3 against Kayden Milne, but the latter came back to 5-5. Robb then went on to win 7-5.
This title puts Robb back at the top of the DPNZ Tour Order of Merit. On Oct. 5 and 6, the final two tournaments of the DPNZ season will be played in Hamilton.
