Home hero Huybrechts stuns Van Gerwen with unorthodox checkout, Cullen eases past Nilsson as Belgian Darts Open continues

In a night which has seen multiple shocks, there was another involving a well-known home hero in the form of Kim Huybrechts who pounced on a doubling disaster from Michael van Gerwen to seal a 6-4 win at the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze.

Van Gerwen missed 20 darts at a double in all including a hatful in the final leg of the match which gave Huybrechts an unlikely opportunity at 134 and with the crowd cheering on his every dart, he sealed the win.

But in an unlikely fashion as he went two double 20's to hit the 134 jumping across the stage in shock as he hands Van Gerwen another early exit on the European Tour with the doubling of the Green Machine again being a focal point.

While in the prior match just like two shocks in a row, there were two big checkouts to win matches in a row as before that 134, Joe Cullen produced a show stopper of his own as he defeated Dennis Nilsson 6-2.

It was a 97 average, three 180's and two ton plus checkouts for 'The Rockstar' as he saw off the Swede with the latter stat in particular being one to note as he hit a 124 checkout on the bull to seal it. Can Cullen add to his Hungarian Darts Trophy triumph this weekend?
