Luke Littler celebrated lifting a trophy on Sunday, having won in the JDC World Championship final. In the final, 'The Nuke' recovered from a 1-3 deficit against Almos Kovacs and triumphed 5-3.
''I'm happy to get over the line and glad to go back-to-back,'' Littler said in conversation with Online Darts after the event. ''Guys like Keane Barry and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez never had the chance to defend it (because of their age ed.), I've had the chance and I've defended it so I can go out of the JDC on a high," said Littler, who celebrates his seventeenth birthday in January and then may no longer play on the JDC Tour.
With an average of over 102, Littler showed he is ready for the big time. Next Wednesday he will also make his appearance at the PDC World Darts Championship. In the first round he will meet former Lakeside winner, Christian Kist.
"I can't wait to play on Wednesday now," he admits. "I hope people get the message that I am good enough because obviously, I've earned it through the Development Tour to get my Tour Card so I just can't wait now."
"People say I could do a Rob Cross (win the World Darts Championship on debut ed.), but I'm not really bothered. I'd just love to get past the first two rounds and then go home for Christmas and come back here."
