Hopp and Clemens delight home crowd with opening round wins in Riesa

Max Hopp and Gabriel Clemens are both through to the second round at the International Darts Open in Riesa after victories to end the opening night.

Hopp coasted past Jelle Klaasen 6-1 and will now take on Jose de Sousa on Saturday. It was a 93 average for 'The Maximiser' with a high checkout of 116. His doubling also told the story with 42% for the former European Tour winner compared to 16% for Klaasen.

Clemens win was similarly dominant against Philipp Hagemann. He won through 6-1 with a brilliant 167 checkout en route and a 99.6 average with the German Giant up at 60% on his doubles against his compatriot.

Rounding out the line-up was Jesus Noguera who whitewashed Maik Kuivenhoven in a 6-0 win. The Dutchman only had one dart at double throughout the contest while the Spaniard was clinical in cleaning up with 6/14.
