Hudson on maiden experience at PDC World Championship in 2013: "I went backstage and was probably sobbing for 10 minutes"

Peter Hudson recently regained his Tour Card and played on the Main Stage at the UK Open but does have previous on the big stage.

Most notably back in 2013 when he lost 3-0 in the first round of the PDC World Championship to James Wade.

He caught up recently with Inside the WDF to discuss playing at the Alexandra Palace and his hopes to return.

"I enjoyed the build up, it was friends and family wishing you well, practicing towards it and an aim to go for. Even just the journey down there, the excitement for it," said Hudson to the Inside the WDF podcast.

"On the night, I didn't play well. I played terrible I think I had maybe an 83 average or something like that. I don't mind admitting it, I went backstage at Alexandra Palace and was probably sobbing for 10 minutes."

"I was disappointed with the way I played but I was more gutted that I'd let people down. Listen, it was an experience. I'd rather have played in a World Championship than not qualified or not turned up at all."

"It was a bit deflating at the time, it wasn't good. Since then, there's been a couple of times where I've been nowhere near qualifying for the World's and there's been once or twice where I've not been far off.

"Whether it's the ProTour or getting through the World Championship qualifier, everyone wants to play on the biggest stage."
