🗣️ "I'm due a good World Matchplay!" Hear from a pumped up Luke Humphries after his success at Players Championship 15!
Luke Humphries has won the fifteenth Players Championship of the year. The 28-year-old Englishman defeated Dave Chisnall 8-7 in the final.
Humphries missed at the bullseye to win the match 8-3. "I'm going to be deadly honest here, my bottle went. I felt really nervy and I don't normally get like that," Humphries said post-match to Dan Dawson. "My hand was shaking. I've already played several finals on the European Tour and even a major final but that was the most nervous I've felt. It was strange."
Confidence
Humphries lost two finals on the European Tour against Chisnall earlier this year. "I said to him 'you'll get beat the next time I play you' and luckily I did," Humphries laughed. "I'm going to take the day off tomorrow, recuperate and then head to the World Matchplay in high spirits."
"I'm not going to put pressure on myself but I think I'm due a good World Matchplay. A lot of people are looking for a big performance from me this year," he concludes. "I've got a really tough quarter. Jose de Sousa is really unpredictable at the moment but he could be great."
