Luke Humphries has sealed back-to-back PDC ranking titles winning
Players Championship 15 in Leicester with an 8-7 win over Dave Chisnall in the final.
Humphries missed seven match darts and led 7-3 initially and this allowed Chisnall to come back and force a decider, but after so many near misses in finals, he has put another run together. This time on the ProTour, it is a seventh title for 'Cool Hand Luke'.
After Humphries struggled to hold, Chisnall picked his pocket with a 110 checkout to make it 1-0 and break throw.
A 78 checkout saw him double up but the same checkout saw Humphries level up at 2-2. He pinned double eight to lead 3-2.
Two double 19’s for a 94 checkout saw Humphries break and go 4-2 up. Humphries went 5-2 from there and three away.
Humphries continued to close in at 6-3. He pinned a 116 checkout to break after a 180 to go one away and was throwing for the match.
A 167 on the bull for the title was missed by Humphries but he returned only to miss the big number and Chisnall broke back at 7-4 down. He pinned double 20 to make it 7-5.
Humphries missed 115 on the wire for the win again, four match darts gone and Chisnall broke again on double 10.
'Cool Hand Luke' began with a 180 and missed 128 on the bull. Chisnall didn't get a shot at 142 but Humphries missed two more for the match taking it to seven.
Chisnall took it all the way with an 80 checkout. Humphries had three clean at double eight again for the title.
