Humphries seals back-to-back European Tour titles, third of the season with Cross win at European Darts Grand Prix

Luke Humphries has sealed back-to-back European Tour titles defeating Rob Cross in a final for the second week in a row in a thrilling tie 8-7 at the European Darts Grand Prix.

Humphries adds to a ProTour title and triumphs in Munich and Prague also over the last month making it four titles for the season clinching the win with a 102.3 average in the final.

Cross took an early lead but hit a 177 and 180 and didn’t get a shot allowing Humphries to pin an 11-darter to level up.

From there, he surged into a 3-1 lead and continued to cement a two leg cushion including a 120 checkout to go 5-3 up. He looked to be easing to victory with another 11-darter to break but Cross hit back straight away to trail 6-4.

He held to go one behind but Humphries went one away with a 121 on the bull for 7-5. He missed two match darts at double 18 in the requisite leg and Cross held to make it 7-6 as he looked to force the decider.

A third match dart came and went for Humphries as Cross made it 7-7 where he’d have the throw.

Cross left 40 from 118 with Humphries having a shot at 108 and he took his chance to seal it.
