Huybrechts faces nervous World Matchplay wait, Kantele defeats Maendl-Lawrance in 50-minute grueller and Pietreczko thrashes Herz

Keane Barry, Ricardo Pietreczko, and Marko Kantele advanced to the second round of the European Darts Matchplay in the German city of Trier on Friday night.

Huybrechts suffered a potentially costly defeat against Keane Barry by losing 2-6 to the Irish darter. 'The Hurricane' is currently battling for qualification for the World Matchplay.

The Belgian now occupies the final qualifying spot for the World Matchplay, for which the European Darts Matchplay is the final event in the qualifying race.

William O'Connor and Simon Whitlock are Huybrechts' closest pursuers. They can pass him when they reach the third round in Trier.

Kantele made it to the last 32 of this Euro Tour tournament by beating Liam Maendl-Lawrance 6-2. This in a game which lasted 50 minutes, both players averaged 71 and missed 31 darts between them. A blink and you won't miss it clash if you will.

Ricardo Pietreczko won 6-0 over Fabian Herz in a German showdown on the opposite end as it was ruthless from 'Pikachu' who is one of those players who could yet seal a Blackpool debut.
