Friday night the final eight duels from the first round of the
European Darts Matchplay will be played. Among others, Kim Huybrechts,
James Wade and
Raymond van Barneveld will be in action.
Van Barneveld will play his ninth Euro Tour tournament of the season in Trier. A stark contrast to last year, in which 'Barney' qualified for only three of the thirteen Euro Tour tournaments.
The 56-year-old Dutchman will play George Killington in the first round of the European Darts Matchplay. Should he manage to beat 'The Killer', a clash with Michael van Gerwen awaits in the second round.
Kim Huybrechts is gearing up for an important match against Keane Barry. The Belgian is still in the race for qualification for the World Matchplay. A win over the Irishman will give the Belgian some extra air in the qualifying race.
The evening session kicks off with a duel between Liam Maendl-Lawrance v Marko Kantele which is sure to go the distance time wise, before a German encounter is scheduled between Fabian Herz and Ricardo Pietreczko.
Eleven-time major-winner James Wade faces off with William O'Connor for a spot in the last 32. Jose de Sousa meets Gabriel Clemens in one of the evening session's top ties, before
Simon Whitlock faces James Wilson. Dessert of the evening will be accounted for by Luke Woodhouse and Stephen Bunting.
