"I disappoint my children" - Emotional Martijn Kleermaker breaks down in tears following defeat to Sherrock in likely last TV event before handing in Tour Card

Martijn Kleermaker has been eliminated at the Grand Slam of Darts. The 32-year-old Dutchman lost his second group match 5-4 to Fallon Sherrock and cannot qualify for the next round with one match to go.

Kleermaker was regretful afterwards in front of the Viaplay cameras. "Right away in the first leg I got three darts on tops to break her. If that doesn't work then, you immediately have to chase."

"This defeat really hurts," said a tearful Kleermaker. "That I disappoint myself is ok, but that I disappoint my children is much worse."

Kleermaker had previously indicated that this will probably be his last major tournament for a long time. He still has a hard time combining darts with fatherhood. "I wanted to finish nicely here and that hasn't worked out for now. Nevertheless, I would still like to win that last group match, three times is hopefully the charm."
