Joe Cullen eased past Ritchie Edhouse to open his account at the 2022 Grand Slam of Darts with victory and the impetus in the group with a 5-1 win.
"It wasn't really about the performance, it was about getting five legs before he did. I've experienced leg difference in the past so 5-1 is pretty good," said Cullen to Online Darts.
"You don't want to be chasing after the first game so I would have taken a 5-4 victory but to get 5-1 is pleasing so I can maybe relax a tiny bit but not too much."
Cullen has been vocal in the past about his opposition to the qualifying criteria and lack there of and he said it's the only flaw in the PDC.
"It's ironic, I've missed out a few times before. I think I was in 27 times over this year, the criteria is what it is. I say we all know it but I don't think anyone really understands it, you can win something and not get in but there's hardly any flaws in the PDC so you can't complain too much when you get something a little bit wrong."
