Gerwyn Price sealed an opening group win at the Grand Slam of Darts as he continued his love affair with the Aldersley Leisure Village seeing off Ted Evetts in a 5-1 rout with a 101.4 average and four 180's.

"I think I just concentrated on my own game, I played pretty decent. I weren't really interested how Ted (Evetts) was playing, I don't think he was really at the races how he should have been. I was having 4,5,6 darts at a double and he was wasn't really there so I felt pretty comfortable in that game. But I know as the tournament goes on, it isn't always going to be like that," said Price to Online Darts.

Price also admits he doesn't look too much into his form at this venue as well as the race to defend £500,000 with the next two tournaments his target to take that pressure off at the World Championship.

"It gives you a confidence boost but every tournament is different, I've played in ProTours where I've gone and won and played absolute brilliant and then you're out first round the next game."

"Everyone has one eye on the other one but I love this tournament and it's £150,000 in ranking money and if I can go and win the Players Championship Finals as well, it eases the pressure with the £500,000 at the end of the year. First goal is to win this one, Players Championship and one eye is always on the big one."

"I just want to stay in the top four, It's not the be all and end all being World Number One. If I'm in the top four, I know I'm practically in everything."
