Joe Cullen won an absolute cracker against Ross Smith at the
German Darts Grand Prix sealing a dramatic decider defying a ton-plus average and six 180's from his opponent.
As of late, Cullen has been in poor form and he admits himself that it comes down partly to the Premier League snub as he was emotional post match and even shed a few tears.
"I just put myself under so much pressure the last few weeks and this year as well. I was getting left out of the Premier League and I don't think I really ever recovered from it," said Cullen post match.
"Mentally I thought I had but I don't think I had and I apologised to Ross there. It's more of a courteous apology as I don't normally act like that. But like I said I just felt under so much pressure lately. It's more of a relief rather than anything else."
Also the pressure was there for Cullen to produce with 'The Rockstar' potentially set to be the next seed to have to head to qualifiers.
"All darts players know where they are in the rankings and I know I'm on the verge of falling out of the ProTour 16 which are seeded for these and I knew I needed a result this weekend.
"As stupid as it sounds, you're hoping for a favourable draw but Ross is in great form at the minute and I really fancied it today. Whether I'm a deserved winner, I don't know but I don't think he led the whole game."
