Gerwyn Price will not play at the
Flanders Darts Trophy after all this weekend as his bid for fitness couldn't gleam an end result that was preferred yet.
Price was all set to play on the ProTour on Monday in Milton Keynes with 'The Iceman' being in terrific form as of late. But disaster struck as he put up a picture of his swollen hand. Not a new issue for Price albeit not one he has had for a few years. He won't be playing at the
Flanders Darts Trophy though.
Back in 2022, Price suffered with a hand fracture and had to withdraw from the Premier League. But he also played with said swollen hand during a ProTour and won the title. He posted further pictures this week as he looked for a quick road to recovery. This included a picture of him in hospital with a drip attached to his arm and saying he couldn't get a bed. As well as later in the week saying hopefully I'm fit for the weekend with a needle attached into his arm.

"Unfortunately my hand isn't ready for this weekend, I left it as late as possible to try and give the best chance possible but it wasn't to be," said Price on Instagram. He then added: "Hopefully will be ready for next weekend."
"Thanks for all the messages of support, means a lot." Next weekend is the Czech Darts Open and it continues the start of a busy Autumn, Price may have curtailed his comeback bid with one eye of being ready for the further tournaments instead of aggravating it this weekend. As far today, Ryan Joycce is straight through to Sunday after Price's withdrawal.
