Chris Dobey is into the last eight of the
World Series of Darts Finals for the first time in his career. 'Hollywood' did not have it all his own way with Boris Krcmar in the second round, but did win 6-4 and now gets to take on the tournaments number one seed, Luke Littler.
Dobey and Krcmar presented the AFAS Live audience with a great match in which both men averaged well over 100. They gave each other very little and for a moment it looked like an eleventh and final leg would decide the match. In the end it was Dobey who won 6-4. However, he realized he had come away well.
"Full credit to Boris there. He played fantastic and hit me with some crucial finishing at the wrong time," Dobey said afterwards in conversation with
Online Darts. "I just had to dig in there and stick with him. I'm glad my finishing pulled us out. Boris is so underestimated and underrated. I respect him a lot and he put up a great fight there, regardless of the score line."
Having always been solid on the Pro Tour, over the last couple of years, Dobey has been getting better and better on the big stages. "I think I put it all down to that Premier League experience. Playing in massive arenas, on the big stage, week in and week out. I think that's brought my game on."
Dobey will now take on Luke Littler in the quarterfinals. "It'll be nice to to play Luke as well, being in the same stable," Dobey previwes. "Plus, he beat me the other week, so I'll be up for that even more!"
The winner of the match between Dobey and Littler will take on the winner of the clash between Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries in the semifinals on Sunday night.
