Luke Humphries has clinched his first weekly title in
Premier League Darts. 'Cool Hand' defeated his compatriot Michael Smith 6-3 in the final of night six in Brighton.
Humphries, who is making his debut in the Premier League this year, had previously reached the final on night three where he lost to Michael van Gerwen. "Since my World Championship title, I haven't reached my best level, but I feel it is gradually coming back," he said.
"Last week I may have lost the final of the UK Open, but that final gave me a lot of confidence. It made me come here with a good feeling and tonight I played very well in all my three matches.
"You have to accept that in this Premier League you can't win all the playing days, the level is just way too high for that and there are too many good players present. My goal is to be in the top four after 16 matchdays, then I have a chance to win the tournament in the playoffs anyway."

Humphries is second in the standings after six nights of play, two points off leader Michael van Gerwen. "I feel at home here and so I want to enjoy the next few weeks as much as possible. It really is a privilege to be able to participate in this."
