Beau Greaves has had a fantastic year. After winning numerous titles on the PDC Women's Series, the 21-year-old also enjoyed success on the Development Tour and the Challenge Tour. She has also secured a PDC Tour Card for the next two years.
Greaves has already been crowned WDF World Champion three times in the past, but this year she will not be defending her title at Lakeside. 'Beau 'n' Arrow' has decided to compete in the PDC World Darts Championship instead.
Van Barneveld said in an interview that Greaves will be invited to the Premier League Darts if she performs well at the upcoming World Darts Championship. Sky Sports commentator Abigail Davies said she rolled her eyes when it came down to this debate and that it was very much one where the thought also that it would be asked in every press conference made it even worse.
"It's such an unnecessary conversation to be having at this stage, I kind of rolled my eyes when I saw that quote from Barney because we all knew what would happen afterwards. We all knew in the build up to the Grand Slam she was going to be asked repeatedly about being in the Premier League which I don't think is fair, relevant and I don't think it's right. It was a bit boring," said Sky Sports Commentator, Abigail Davies on the Love the Darts Podcast.
"What is she supposed to say to that at that point. I don't understand what she's meant to say but focusing on what she is doing as she has timed everything in her career impeccably well. I am one of the people who's gone please do this, please be in this tournament because selfishly I want to see her play as much as possible. She uses the board well, she's got that silky smooth action. Remarkable to think she's come through dartitis when you watch her throw. It really is incredible. Third highest average not to qualify from the group stage of the Grand Slam."
"It has been pivotal in 2025 to see her play Development Tour, Challenge Tour because the Women's Series just wasn't serving her anymore in the ways she needed to be served for things. I think this is the perfect preparation now. She is ready to take that next step when she gets her Tour Card. My goodness is she going to cause problems in Players Championship events. I see her winning at least one title on the ProTour, I genuinely think she's that good and she won't have danger retaining her Tour Card after two years."
Chris Murphy also chimed in and said that it would be a debate they'd have in the years to come but not right now and that she will be in just not yet.
"Hearing Barney talk about the Premier League in November, I assumed he was advocating for himself to go into it again. But I do think he's right, she will be in the Premier League just not yet."
"I agree with Abi that she will win titles next year, this time next year we will be having a lot more of a serious discussion about that prospect."
