Simon Whitlock failed to recapture his PDC Tour Card at Q-School 2025 last week. As such, after fourteen years, his time on the PDC circuit comes to an end. 'The Wizard' reached the final of the PDC World Darts Championship in 2010, something he also did two years earlier with the BDO. Whitlock, who is now set to compete on the World Seniors Darts Tour (WSDT) also won one PDC major in his career.

After losing the final of the BDO World Championship to Mark Webster in 2008, Whitlock also lost the final of the PDC World Championship in 2010, this time to the inevitable Phil Taylor. Another two years later the Australian did get to cheer, at the European Championship he was too strong for Wes Newton in the final 11-5.

"I thought I was going to win a lot more titles! But I haven't and who knows why," Whitlock reflects in conversation with the MODUS Super Series' YouTube channel. "I mean there's so many good dart players and Phil Taylor's ruined a lot of people's lives in darts and yeah, I can blame him for a lot of that."

Also that European Championship was the only major singles title Whitlock won, it wouldn't be his only PDC TV title. Almost a decade later, Whitlock would win another major tournament, albeit with his country. Indeed, alongside Damon Heta, he won the World Cup of Darts in 2022 by beating Wales 3-1 in the final.

"It was just the best feeling ever you know. I was so nervous, I was watching in the back room thinking: 'Come on Damon you've got to get this,' he recalls of his World Cup of Darts win. "Because I really did not want to play Gerwyn Price. I was getting pretty tired by the end of the day then and I had a great feeling that Damon was going to fix it, so we didn't have to go the last rubber."
