Phil Taylor is back throwing darts for the first time in months as he aims potentially for a dramatic comeback to the sport only months after he bowed out from World Seniors action.

Taylor made his retirement without technically throwing a final dart as he had to withdraw from multiple World Seniors majors. He has since signed up to an ambassadorial role and said in a recent interview that he is going to test the capabilities of his hip and if he can return he will.

"I'm going to give it a go while the weather's like this and see what happens," he said to The Times and added: "If I can, I can."

He also said in the piece that he plans a theatre tour this year as a farewell to recount his stories and that the sport certainly needed Luke Littler. “It was time to go,” he says. “They definitely needed Luke. I think the ratings dropped a little bit when I left, but he’s put the sport right back up there. It’s gone mad. He’s massive but he’ll be fine. He has got all of the right people around him.”

He also spoke to The Sun though and said that it is all about getting healthy and that competitive darts is gone for him. This could hint that perhaps it is more of a keeping the arm in and playing at home rather than a comeback of any kind.

But given that Taylor technically didn't have his World Seniors farewell, it could be that if he is competitive enough that he eventually gives it one final go.

"It's a matter of doing more exercise now, getting the blood circulating. Competitive darts now has gone for me. The mind is willing, the body isn't. I feel 18 inside my head. Let's concentrate on getting healthy. It's about dedication.
