After weeks of drought, Michael van Gerwen has won another matchday of Premier League Darts. 'Mighty Mike' triumphed in Birmingham on Night 11, defeating Luke Littler 6-3 in the final.
Van Gerwen won three of the first four nights of play at the start of the 2024 Premier League Darts campaign, but then had to wait until the Night 11 to celebrate another weekly title.
"He had to fight extremely hard for it, it certainly didn't come naturally," friend and mentor Vincent van der Voort told Viaplay afterwards.
"Certainly the second and third games his first dart didn't go well," continued Van der Voort, who himself was present in support of his friend in Birmingham. "But he fought for it and still won in the end, which is the most important thing."
How exactly should we assess Van der Voort's role? "I try to help where I can, which is often with small things. In any case, I really enjoyed being there tonight."
