''I want to be back in the top 16" - Raymond van Barneveld rolls back the years to win 30th PDC title at Players Championship 5

Raymond van Barneveld rolled back the years on Monday by taking the title at the fifth Players Championship tournament of the season. In the final he beat Stephen Bunting 8-1.

The 56-year-old Dutchman was virtually flawless on the doubles. Against Bunting, he managed to throw 80% on the outer ring. It earned him his first PDC ranking title since February 2021.

''I'm over the moon,'' Van Barneveld told the PDC afterwards. "I have been working really hard over the last few months, so I'm really, really happy to see this pay off."

The Dutch darts pioneer has been in good form recently. He made it to the last sixteen at the World Darts Championship and has been in the quarterfinals of a Pro Tour tournament twice already this campaign. ''I've dropped two grams in my set-up from 25g to 23g, and over the last week I've been playing awesome, just like the old days,'' Van Barneveld continued. ''I thought it may be too soon to win a title like this, but I really believe I can achieve even more."

''I want to be back in the top 16 of the world. I want to play in all of the major tournaments this year, so this win is a big help for me,'' Van Barneveld concluded.
