Raymond van Barneveld has qualified in Den Bosch for the quarterfinals of the Dutch Darts Masters, the second tournament of the World Series of Darts 2025. 'Barney' did so in style by throwing a 144 finish in the deciding leg. In the quarterfinals he will face Stephen Bunting, who won the Bahrain Darts Masters last week.

Van Barneveld came to Den Bosch with modest expectations. "I have quite a flu to contend with. I even considered not coming this weekend," he told Sportnieuws.nl.

"I start off pretty good. I mess up on that 61. After that, you fall behind. Pushing and pulling. It wasn't going well since the 2025 World Championship. I haven't practiced much since then."

It was said beforehand that Van Barneveld could not complain with Dobey as an opponent in his first round. "I disagree with that, he just made it to the semifinals at the World Darts Championships. I get a chance at 144. After the World Darts Championship I had a talk with myself. I put too much pressure on myself there. I have resolved to just enjoy myself this year."

"Right before I went to throw that 144, you could see a little smile on my face," Van Barneveld continued. "I was like, who can make me do this? This crowd, all this, this is so fantastic. I'm not even a hundred percent. And then hitting it, I'm pretty proud of myself and you don't hear me say that very often."
