Raymond van Barneveld successfully made it into the second round of the
World Series of Darts Finals. The 56-year-old Dutchman was a 6-2 winner over Jeff Smith in the opening round.
Despite the easy win, Van Barneveld certainly did not perform convincingly. “I was overwhelmed by the crowd,” Van Barnveld admitted afterwards. “The atmosphere was absolutely amazing. My family was here tonight; my two daughters with my three grandchildren - that puts a little bit of pressure on and I didn’t play my A-game."
“I wanted to show what I can do," continued 'Barney'. "The will to win is still there, but you have to believe in yourself and that is what I do.”
Van Barneveld will take on reigning world champion and world number one Michael Smith in the second round.
