Ashley Coleman will be one of the hopefuls aiming for a Tour Card when Q-School rolls around again in January. But it is a different story for the Prince of Darkness.
Backed by YouTuber The Darts Referee and playing on his channel, he found an audience before he tried Q-School and was given the tools to try and start his darting career. A player who is known to throw scary averages, he was seen as likely to get a Tour Card at this year's Q-School.
He didn't but it is all in on January now for Coleman who will aim to go from YouTube to the top 128 in a remarkable darting story of a fan finding his way onto the tour in only a few years.
"It's been a crazy experience. You have to adjust quite quick. But yeah I've really enjoyed it, it's really good fun. I really enjoy my darts and I've got to express it a lot more now," said Coleman to Online Darts.
But now it is all on January for Coleman. "That's all it is now. I've got a competition this weekend and a couple left of the season and then it's all about January. I didn't feel the pressure (this year) as I was new. But I think this year I'm going to feel the pressure we will see.
"It's an enjoyable experience, even if you don't make it you've still got opportunities. That's what I love about darts, there's opportunities no matter what."
He wouldn't be against playing another year though on the secondary tours and other tournaments to gain more experience but does want the Tour Card if he can get it.
"Everything will happen when it happens but I don't think it would be a bad thing if I got another year on Challenge Tour, MODUS. It keeps me relevant but I would love the card. If you want to be the best, you've got to play the best. I haven't been able to play the best yet."
