The wait is almost over for the 2025 Premier League Darts, one of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments.

Eight of the best players in the world will battle it out over several weeks, all hoping to lift the trophy at the iconic O2 Arena.

The competition features some familiar favourites, including Gerwyn Price, Michael van Gerwen, and Luke Humphries.

However, a key storyline this year is the return of Chris Dobey, who will be looking to improve on his 2023 campaign and deliver on the big stage.

Chris Dobey's career so far

Dobey has been a consistent presence on the professional circuit for several years, producing many memorable moments.

The Newcastle-born player claimed his first televised title in 2023, when he won The Masters.

In 2024, he proved he could compete at a high level, securing three Players Championship titles and reaching the semi-finals of the World Championship.

Now, with Premier League experience under his belt, Dobey is determined to improve on his seventh-place finish from 2023 and make a bigger impact this time around.

A return to action

Dobey shared his excitement about being back in the competition and his desire to perform well.

"I'm delighted to be back. It's great to get another shot at it. I'm a much better player now because of my Premier League experience two years ago.

"What better way to start? I fondly remember Belfast from that opening night win two years ago, so I'm buzzing to be back."

"Yeah, 100%. Like I said, I'm a much better player now because of that experience. I felt I had a good season back then but didn't get the results. I played some great stuff, but now I'm back and ready to compete."

The Englishman also discussed how match practice will help him heading into his Premier League return.

"Yeah, of course. It's all about match practice. After the World Championship, I tried a fresh set of darts, but they didn't work, so I put them aside and returned to my old, reliable ones. Hopefully, I'll see a difference."

Did Dobey expect to be in the Premier League this year?

There has been much debate about this year's Premier League lineup, with some questioning certain selections.

Dobey was asked whether he expected to be included in this year’s competition.

"I wouldn't say I expected it, but I knew I put myself in contention. I had a great season on the floor but hadn't done much on TV until the World Series quarter-finals.

"I thought I'd need a semi-final in the Worlds to get in the mix. A few players went out early; I reached the semis and hoped it would be enough.

"But like everyone else, I was just waiting for the call."

Managing a demanding schedule

The Premier League schedule is gruelling, and Dobey reflected on how he will approach it differently this time.

"Yeah, I did everything last time—flying to and from European Tours, playing every event.

"This year, I'm going to manage my schedule better. I was going into floor events feeling drained.

"Every event should be one you're motivated to win, so I'll pull out of a few Euro Tours and Pro Tours to avoid burnout."

A big year ahead for Dobey

Dobey is a talented player with the potential to compete at the highest level.

With his Premier League experience, he is more prepared than ever and will be eager to make his mark in the 2025 edition of the tournament.
