Later tonight in Belfast, the 2025 Premier League Darts season gets underway. After much discussion and controversy surrounding the lineup, the time for talk is nearly over, but what can we expect from the coming campaign?

Well, ahead of tonight's kick-off, Sky Sports asked their esteemed pundits for some predictions. Among them, two former world champions, John Part and Mark Webster gave their expert insights. The first question asked is the big one 'Who will win the Premier League Darts in 2025?' Interestingly, both Part and Webster nominated different names for consideration.

"It has to be Luke Humphries," answers Webster, firmly putting his backing behind the world number one. "He will be a little wounded from losing the world title, then what happened in the Premier League last year where he lost out in the final. He will be keen to win a title he hasn't won before." For Part though, it's difficult to see past the world champion. " I am going for Luke Littler to repeat. I can't pick against him with a straight face," counters the Canadian.

What about a dark horse? For this answers, Webster looks to his fellow Welshman. "I am going for Gerwyn Price. There are glimpses of Price playing well and if there is anyone who is going to gatecrash that top four, it is Price. He will be there or thereabouts." As for Part, the man Littler beat in the recent PDC World Darts Championship final is the one to watch. "My dark horse is MVG. His refusal to bow to anyone will help him sail the often choppy seas of the 2025 Premier League and find safe harbour in Finals Night."

So with both Littler and Van Gerwen confirmed as part of Part's predicted top 4, who completes the Canadian's lineup in the playoffs? "Along with MVG it will be... Luke Littler: there's no denying the day-in day-out quality of the World Champ. Luke Humphries' big win at the Masters with its nerve-racking mini-set format will serve to position the world No 1's confidence right where he needs it. Gerywn Price has already impressed in 2025 and is showing a return to his top form," predicts the three-time world champion.

For Webster, there is only one change. "The reasons for selecting my top four of Luke Littler, Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and Stephen Bunting are that Littler and Humphries are the two best players in the world so they will comfortably make it. Van Gerwen has the experience, knows what the Premier League is about and, even if he has some bad weeks, will find a way to get to it. He has played it so many times and only failed to make the play-offs once," analyses the former Lakeside champion. "Bunting I have gone for on current form. I think he looks good, he will be excited to play in it and he is always going to be a threat, being something new."
