Nathan Aspinall has not had to waste much energy so far at the PDC World Darts Championship. He has surrendered only one set in his three matches. Only Leonard Gates (3-1) managed to grab a set in the opening round, but after that Aspinall won 4-0 over both Andrew Gilding and Ricardo Pietreczko. Besides his performance on stage, something else stands out: Aspinall has a new look.
The darter from Stockport recently sported a trimmed beard. and subtle change that may contribute to his self-assurance on stage, although not everyone around him is happy with the new style. His partner, Kirsty, in particular takes issue with it. "Kirsty is raging about it, but I’m keeping it until I’ve won another major," Aspinall declared after his easy victory over Pietreczko.
Aspinall is determined to keep his new look for now. "I won’t let it grow until I look like Santa Claus, and I’ll trim it if I have to. But I started growing the beard since before the Players Championship finals at Minehead and it stays until I’ve won big again," he added with a smile.
The current world number 12 has two major titles to his name. He won his first major in 2019 at the UK Open. In 2023, he added the prestigious World Matchplay title.
