Josh Rock believes he is currently producing the best darts of his career, and as he prepares to make his World Series of Darts debut at the Australian Darts Masters in Wollongong this Friday, 'Rocky' is keen to seize the opportunity given to him by the PDC.
The Northern Irish star faces a tough opening assignment against Simon Whitlock, the experienced crowd favourite from New South Wales, with a place in the quarter-finals on the line. But Rock arrives in Australia full of confidence after a standout run of form on the PDC circuit.
Currently ranked 11th in the world, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a landmark summer. In June, he partnered Daryl Gurney to lead Northern Ireland to their first-ever World Cup of Darts title, defeating Wales 10–9 in a dramatic final. Less than a fortnight ago, Rock also reached the semi-finals of the World Matchplay, narrowly losing 17–14 to eventual champion Luke Littler.
“I’m very excited to be here,” said Rock, who is closing in on a place in the world’s top ten. “Me and my wife went into Sydney yesterday and the city is absolutely beautiful, and now I’m just really looking forward to getting up on that stage tomorrow.
“I’m probably playing the best darts I’ve played on a consistent basis, but I believe I haven’t hit my peak yet. I’m still only 24," he continued. “It should be a fantastic event this weekend. We’re all here to win, and I’m going to try as hard as I can to walk away with the title.”
Should he come through against Whitlock, Rock could face top seed Stephen Bunting in the quarter-finals. The world number four has already claimed two World Series titles in 2025 and begins his campaign against Brody Klinge – one of the most promising young players on the Australian scene.
